Hand Knotted Mala Necklaces

$80.00

Saturday, May 20 ( 1-3pm )
Taught by Ali Gilheany, yoga teacher and jewelry maker.

Malas are a type of prayer bead used to count recitations of mantras in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. They can be used for devotional yogic practices or worn like jewelry.

In this workshop you’ll be learning the traditional way to make a mala using silk thread and gemstone beads, as well as how to make a tassel. We’ll discuss the history, working with mantras, and caring for your devotional jewelry. You’ll get to choose a mantra to make your mala with from a selection that is easily accessible.

The process of making a mala is a practice that should be thoughtful, intentional, and meditative just as using them is a practice or ritual. Most importantly, this workshop will be taught with a lighthearted and fun approach.

All materials provided.
Please choose from 3 stone options: Amazonite, Gray Agate or Black Onyx.

This class is 2 hours long with a maximum of 6 participants.
